Platform Test Information

Platform Test - Windows Server 2008 component

The goal of the Windows Server 2008 component of the Platform Test is to award points in the Microsoft Partner Program for applications that are compatible with Windows Server 2008 and Hyper-V. The minimum requirements of the Windows Server 2008 component of the Platform Test represent a subset of the Works with Windows Server 2008 logo tests, which helps developers and customers identify baseline compatibility with the new platform.

The Platform test is intended for software solutions that run on Windows Server and/or Windows client (“foundation” components), and leverage one or more of the following “elective” components: Microsoft Office, SQL Server, managed code, the .NET Framework, and/or XML web services. The Platform Test for ISV Solutions is open to released versions of packaged or hosted software products. Every successful component test earns 10 Microsoft Partner Points, with a minimum of one “foundation” component and one “elective” component. For more details on the Platform Test, visit the Microsoft Partner Program

Applications that pass the Windows Server 2008 component of the Platform Test without any use of a Limited Waiver meet the technical bar required to earn the “Works with Windows Server 2008 Logo” and a listing in the Windows Server Catalog. For more details on how to complete the legal requirements and earn the “Works with Windows Server 2008” Logo click here .

Certified For Windows Server 2008 program

The goal of the Certified for Windows Server 2008 Program (CfW) for software is to highlight and promote applications that are compatible, stable, secure and reliable when deployed on Windows Server 2008. Tools and resources are available for developers and testers to develop highly compliant Server Applications. Microsoft authorized test vendors must Independently test and verify applications before they can earn the Certified Logo. Drivers (if any) in the applications must be tested and signed by Microsoft Windows Hardware Quality Labs .
The “Certified for” program requirements include all requirements of the “Works with Windows Server 2008” (WW) program requirements, which cover issues of basic application compatibility.
For more information on the CfW program click here .
